I had so much fun tonight! I went to Laura's and she taught me the basics of fusing silver. This is one of those subjects that I have avoided because it involves an open flame and I am notoriously clumsy. My husband is still afraid that I will set myself on fire, but he has agreed to "let" me do this in our house if I only use the torch when he's home so he can take me to the emergency room if necessary. Glad to have the support! LOL.
Anyway, here's what I did. I made a small chain out of three rings, a headpin (which is used to dangle beads on things), four textured rings, and one experiment in joining two pins that I overheated in one spot. The textured rings were especially fun. I fused the rings, then placed them between two different textured photopolymer plates (ahem...something I believe I could make with a laser!!) and then beat them with a big hammer. Followed up by a quick dunk in liver of sulphur to darken and bring out the texture, but the mixture wasn't very good. Yet another thing I need to experiment with.
You won't see any more of this for a while since I lack the tools, but I see a new torch purchase in my future. When that happens, I'll be melting everything I can get my hands on. Mwuahahahahaha (that's my evil laugh).
What fun! I'm so jealous! I still don't have bead friends here, let alone ones that can teach me anything :(
