Comic Inspiration

I finally made another successful comic bangle. This one is in the medium size, which has the same outer diameter as the large, but is thicker. So it uses a lot more resin and the paper is a little harder to see. I think the next one I make of this side will have two pieces of paper - one right along the inside edge, and one along the outer edge. Sorry again for the bad photo...

I found a couple of pages that made me laugh and I think I might use them, even though they're not typical comic book images. They're commercials! This one for Bonkers just cracks me up. And the one for the prizes brings back memories of staring at the page for hours trying to decide whether I really could sell a bazillion subscriptions to a magazine for a My Little Pony special unicorn edition!

  1. Just wanted to comment after seeing (& wearing!) the original Comic Bangel live & in person...
The colors are so pretty & the bangel would mix & match with several other types of bracelets nicely. Easily dressed up or down. It's as light as air! I really like it!!

Michelle, The ads cracked me up! I remember Bonkers. I didn't remember that I remembered Bonkers until I clicked on the ad & looked closer. :)

  2. Bonkers....wow. Forgot about those....
I really like the look of the bangle. Is the base specially made for resin with a trench, or is it a regular acrylic? (AaaH! The 'A' Word!!!!!)

  3. Hmm...maybe it's just too early in the morning, but I'm not sure what you're asking, Megan. So here are all the details about the bracelet: I made it by cutting out the strip of paper and floating it in resin that was poured into a silicone bangle mold. If you are referring to the "lip" at the bottom, that's the extra from the top of the mold and most of it has been sanded away since I took the picture. Also, besides the inner diameter, the medium bangle is also a lot firmer. The large one is still a big flexible, so it can be pushed a bit out of shape (but it bounces back!). This one is really solid.

  4. I was referring to the mold. I'm cute, but not so smart sometimes :)
