So this will probably interest nobody but me. Sorry! I have several different products that have been recommended as coatings for various things. I finally did a head-to-head comparison two nights ago. I attached the same photo to identical pieces of glass and coated each with a different product and didn't disturb them until this morning. It looks like Diamond Glaze works just fine after all. ICE resin is the best, but also the most expensive and hardest to deal with (you have to mix it up yourself and you have to work quickly so it doesn't start to cure before you use it all up). I can't believe how awful the other two did! I'm pretty sure I've used the Glossy Accents before with better results, but i'm pretty horrified that this is even a possible outcome. I don't think I'll be wasting any more time with that one.

I haven't used the ICE Resin yet, but bought it on your recommendation. I know I'll be happy with it, the problem is that I have to come up with several ideas before I even start...not so easy for Megans. I use the glossy accents all the time, and have never had the issue shown here. Most things bleed as a result of the Mod Podge I put on them, not the Glossy. Glossy Accents is what I have been using on the black type on white paper on the back of the glass pendants...no problem before. What paper where you using if you don't mind me asking? I found that my pictures came out better because of the paper I was using. I use the thicker printer paper (for my instructions), and switched over to using it almost exclusively several years ago.
ReplyDeleteThese were on photo paper. I didn't seal them or anything first. Maybe the Glossy Accents works better on a matte surface?
ReplyDeleteI have been told to never, ever use photo paper because of the shiny surface. Essentially it gives a nice finish without the coating, but the ink doesn't seep in, and it bleeds extremely easily. Matte is definately the way to go I think.
ReplyDeleteYou have to "mix it up yourself"? What a drag. Michelle, don't you have "people" to do that sort of thing for you?

ReplyDeleteI was referring to the fact that it comes in two parts that you have to measure and mix very carefully or it won't ever set up. The other is premixed and you just use it as you need it.
